Progress Energy Art Gallery
We will highlight new exhibits at the Progress Energy Art Gallery at the beginning of this page.

The first Friday of each month is reserved for the opening of a new exhibit where we usually exhibit several of our photography and/or photo-art prints.
The gala Opening Reception for February 2012 exhibit, 'Visual Romance & Affairs of the Art', is Friday, February 3 from 6-9 p.m. and includes light refreshments. The public is always invited. The exhibit continues to be open to the public Wednesday through Saturday afternoons through the end of the month.
The photo still life to the left titled, 'God's Romance', is one of our entries in the February 2012 exhibit.
The Progress Energy Art Gallery at 6231 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey, Florida (next to the historic theater)fosters photography & art through monthly exhibits as well as encouraging authors of poetry and prose with monthly events. Open to the public Wednesday through Saturday afternoons and for special events, local artists, artisans and photographers are able to enter their work for monthly themed exhibits.

The hauntingly lovely tropical painting in the Suncoast News article above is the work of artist, Marion Matthews.
I've highlighted my name in the article above describing the exhibit, 'A Tropical Wintertime Paradise; and featured my photograph, "Florida Snow" below (The reporter called it a painting. It's not, although I may have added painting filters through Photoshop). Florida Snow was taken on Florida's panhandle not long after a hurricane swept through the area. The white sand beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world.

October Reception for 'ART HARVEST'

The October, 2011 First Friday Artists' Reception at the Progress Energy Art Gallery
combined the theme of autumn, but also featured bikers whose event coincided with the opening of the event.

Nancy Ciesla is the tireless Director of the Art Gallery. In a rare moment of relaxation, she holds our youngest visitor of the day.
Paintings, sketches, photography and hand crafted art run the gamut from traditional to avant garde. The paintings on the right are the work of talented artist, Alice Fogg, who sadly passed on just before the exhibit.

The Progress Energy Art Gallery (PEAG) consists of four exhibit areas. The setting above is the largest of the four.
Schedules and events for the gallery can be accessed through this link.

The Suncoast News article below is a continuation of the article at the top of the page. Fran McLean's colorful painting of beach chairs were a favorite of the volunteers and staff working on the exhibit.
